Crafting of New Development Plan for Eldoret Municipality in Progress

  The Eldoret Municipality has initiated an ambitious program that will see a new Integrated Development Plan put in place. Under the initiative, the municipality is hoping to review its boundaries so as to include new estates that have emerged and required the services of urban centres like sewerage system and piped water among others. According to the Municipality Board chairman Julius Kitur, the plan will also help hasten the process of elevating Eldoret town to a city. Kitur revealed that conferment of a city status had been delayed due to the fact that currently, the Eldoret International Airport is not under the municipality. “To be a city, we must have an airport and this is why we need to expand the parameters of the municipal boundaries to have it to be part of the Eldoret municipality.
