Governor Jackson Mandago had issued a 30-day extension to individuals who would have paid their rates by June 30, 2021, and land owners now have another 15 days to clear their bills, and benefit from their waiver While announcing the extension on Thursday, Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said the move was as a result of a request from locals who asked for more time to pay the rates. Committee Formed To Address Land Tenure Issues in Uasin Gishu

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has established a Land Management Committee that will be mandated to establish and provide solutions to a variety of land ownership issues within the county. County’s Lands and Physical Planning Executive Eng. Nelson Maritim named land ownership tenures as one of the issues the committee will be addressing. Eng. Maritim notes that issues to do with land tenure have been the main reason why they have failed to secure development projects for a number of informal urban areas within the county, including Langas.
