The County Assembly of Uasin Gishu has passed a motion asking the Eldoret Municipality in collaboration with the relevant department to develop an Urban and Cities Integrated Development Plan that will guide its operations. Kaptagat Member of County Assembly (MCA) Jonathan Ng’etich while moving the motion expressed concerns that the Eldoret Municipality is currently operating without any development plan, three years since it was awarded a charter. Ng’etich noted just like the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) and the Annual Development Plan (ADP), the municipality is legally required to have its own development plan that will among guide in policy formulation for issues such as the development of environment plan, valuation roll for properties, physical infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and geographical information systems.
