List of Estates within Eldoret Municipality

 

Eldoret town officially started in 1910 following the establishment of a post office at what was then known as ‘Sisibo’ or 64.

Two years later, the colonial government decided to establish an administrative centre in the thus the Post Office was renamed from "64" to a new official town name – Eldoret.  Becoming an administrative centre caused an enormous increase in trade within the prospective city. A bank and several shops were built.

Today, Eldoret is the fifth most populated urban area in the country after NairobiMombasaNakuru and Ruiru. It is also currently the fastest growing town in Kenya with 475,716 people, according to 2019 National Census.

Eldoret’s fast growth has seen it witness a rise in the number of residential estates, with some even going past the municipality.

It is this growth and push for a city status that informed the need to expand the Eldoret Municipality boundaries up to the Eldoret International Airport.

But before the expansion is approved, here is a list of all the estates that are within the Eldoret Municipality as currently constituted.

The boundary was first drawn in 1974 and revised in 1988.
