Ziwa market to get a facelift as the trading center prepares for Township status – Where to buy land

The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the department of Informational Communications Technology, Trade and Industrialization is planning to renovate and expand the Ziwa center.

Department’s County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Dr. Emily Kogos says they intend to transform the center into a modern facility that will enable traders to have a conducive environment to operate from.

Speaking when she visited the market, Dr. Kogos accompanied by county engineers and trade officials said they have already started laying off cabros in the market.

“The upgrading of the trading center to the town status is ongoing as there is need to have this market be improved so that it can accommodate more traders and farmers’ produce. The market will also play a key role in spurring economic development in the county,” noted the CECM.

Ziwa Trading center is set for an upgrade to Township status. It is already the latest beneficiary of the tarmacked road – an essential service enhancer to the people residing, trading, and getting Government services there.


The tarmac road is currently at 90 percent into completion where footpaths, road signs, markings, and beautification are the few remaining finishes to its final completion.

Handover is anticipated to be done in the next few days.
