Eldoret Town’s Industrial Area set for a Facelift

Eldoret town continues to witness major development projects on its infrastructure even as it seeks to get the coveted city status.

The town, which is the capital of Uasin Gishu County has witnessed infrastructural transformation since the inception of devolution in 2013.

For the past 8 years or so, there has been tarmacking of key roads within the CBD, as well as ongoing refurbishment of the backstreets.

The development has spilled over to nearby residential estates which have also benefited from tarmacking, among them Kapsoya, Kipkaren, Huruma, Munyaka, Langas – effectively improving on the value of land and investment in the town.

With more development partners now willing to support projects in the county, the County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP) is now undertaking yet another major project in Eldoret's industrial area where the construction and tarmacking of Arap Kitongo road is in its final stages of completion.

While on an inspection of the road works, Director Physical Planning Planner Daniel Koech with the project Assistant Resident Engineer Eng. Linus Yego said that the project was at 80% into completion and will serve its intended purpose soon.

There is also an ongoing construction of the Eldoret Southern by-pass that runs from Cheplaskei through Kapseret and back to the Eldoret-Uganda highway intercepting at Leseru.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago in a recent meeting with the Executive Director of African Development Bank, Amos Cheptoo expressed his satisfaction with the work saying the bypass will help decongest Eldoret town that is a key transit point to East African Countries.

Mandago also called on the development partner to consider funding the dualling of Cheplaskei-Leseru by-pass and further improvement and link of Leseru-Kitale Road to join the Suam border dual as a way to open up the Northern part of the region.

How Women Can Protect Their Property Rights After Marriage

They say property has no gender, but history shows a different reality, where property ownership has favoured men. This inequality is still evident, especially when it comes to inheritance after the death of a spouse.  Even though Kenya’s 2010 Constitution guarantees equal rights for men and women, many women still struggle to secure their rights to property. So, how can women make sure their rights are respected after marriage? Baoriat Agencies explains six key ways to ensure fair property distribution in case of death or separation. 1. Registering Jointly Owned Property  When a couple buys property together, it’s important to register it under both names. This guarantees that the other automatically inherits the property if one partner dies. Make sure both names are clearly listed on the title deed as co-owners. 2. Joint Tenancy or Tenancy-in-Common There are two ways to share property: Joint tenancy : If one partner dies, the other automatically becomes the sole owner. Tena...
