Eldoret
town also plays host to a number of major military installations from the Moi
Barracks, Recruits Training School to the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation, an installation that manufacturer
ammunition and small arms.
The military installations are found in Kamagut area, about 20.7 kilometers from Eldoret CBD via Eldoret-Malaba road (A104) and Eldoret-Kitale Road/B2
RIVATEX
Rift
Valley Textile Company – RIVATEX is a textile company currently run by Moi
University. It was first opened in 1975 but was later shut down in 2000.
The
university bought the company in 2007 as a facility for research, product
development, extension, and production, and it is now modernized and expanded
textile company and it was officially re-opened in 2009.
Rivatex also has a Digital Assembly Plant with the capacity to produce laptops, tablets, electric meters, smartphones, and other digital devices.
Apart
from the above-mentioned government installations, Eldoret town is also home to
the Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) as well as the Central Bank of Kenya
(CBK) branch.
