VARIOUS WAYS OF MAKING YOUR HOME COZY

When it comes to giving your home a certain ‘feeling’, a lot of us just don’t know where to start. Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint what’s wrong and it’s difficult to figure out exactly what changes we need to make. With these tips, you can create an attractive home for your family and friends to stay and soak up the beautiful designs.

Warm up your house with different use of rugs and textiles.

Rugs are perfect choice for defining areas. You can opt to take a color from one rag and incorporate it on another to create a mix and add a pop of color.  You can also match color in your cushions and lamp shades. Keep some of your accessories neutral if you decide to go for bold colors for your rags.

Consider area rugs. If your home doesn’t already have carpet, area rugs in each room can help make the rooms feel warmer. Hardwood floors can be gorgeous, but they can also look cold and uninviting. Area rugs should be set in the middle the room, with furniture placed at the edges.

Add personal touches.

A home will always feel cozier and inviting if it feels like someone really lives there. Hang photos of your family, or set out collectibles that have personal meaning to you. It will make your home more inviting, and also make you and your family feel more comfortable.

Use warm colors.

Although neutral shades are great for furniture, consider using warm colors as well. You can use them in your accessories, on the walls, or in your furniture. Warm shades like browns, reds, and oranges mixed with neutrals can make your home feel cozier.

Use ceiling coffers.

In architecture, a "coffer" is a sunken panel in a ceiling, including the interior surfaces of domes and vaults. A decorative ceiling coffer breaks up the monotony and draws the eye towards the more interesting object in the room.

Cozy up with curtains.

During cold seasons, swap out your lighter weight curtains for some luxurious heavy drapes with thermal lining. They will not only help keep the heat in, but also add extra softness (for an extra layer of coziness).

Add texture to your home.

Texture adds depth and helps add coziness to a space too. The following are some of the ways to instantly add texture which will make your rooms look attractive:
a)       Place woven baskets containing extra pillows and throw blankets.
b)       Use textiles in inviting fabrics such as chunky knit, velvet, faux fur and linen

c)       Mixing accessories in materials like leather, ceramic and wood will also create appealing tactile experiences and sensations.
d)       A simple but well-styled shelf of books is a cheap and effective way of adding texture to a room.

Use less furniture.

If you're not sure whether the space looks too cluttered, take out one piece of furniture.  Avoid stuffing the room in order to achieve the cozy and inviting effect.

Whether you are living in a home or an apartment, walking in a cozy home is the best feeling one can ever experience. Do you want to buy/rent such a house? Look no further. How Women Can Protect Their Property Rights After Marriage

They say property has no gender, but history shows a different reality, where property ownership has favoured men. This inequality is still evident, especially when it comes to inheritance after the death of a spouse.  Even though Kenya’s 2010 Constitution guarantees equal rights for men and women, many women still struggle to secure their rights to property. So, how can women make sure their rights are respected after marriage? Baoriat Agencies explains six key ways to ensure fair property distribution in case of death or separation. 1. Registering Jointly Owned Property  When a couple buys property together, it’s important to register it under both names. This guarantees that the other automatically inherits the property if one partner dies. Make sure both names are clearly listed on the title deed as co-owners. 2. Joint Tenancy or Tenancy-in-Common There are two ways to share property: Joint tenancy : If one partner dies, the other automatically becomes the sole owner. Tena...
