High End Estates in Eldoret Where the Affluent Live

In any society worldwide, there will always be people with a great deal of money – the wealthy, those in the middle of the park (middle-level income earners) and the poor, in between, there are so many more levels.

One’s ability to access money has a direct impact on where he/she lives. In Eldoret town, for example, residential estates are categorized depending on a persons richness.

There are those estates known to be home to the low-income earners, and others exclusive for the rich and then we have the super-rich – they also have their own estates they live.

Here are some of the high-end estates in Eldoret town that are home to the affluent with rent ranging between Sh50,000 to Sh200,000 per month, depending on the size of the house and the landlord.

Elgon View Estate

Located on the southern side of Eldoret town in Kenya and named after Mt Elgon, Elgon View estate is primarily zoned for low-density residential housing. The minimum land acreage one can own in this estate is half an acre.

The estate, which is considered an affluent neighbourhood, is home to politicians, athletes, businessmen and religious leaders.

Elgon View estate attracts old money – individuals who are aged 55 years and above.

Some of the institutions found in the estate include Eldoret State Lodge, Eldoret Sports Club, Mother of Apostle Seminary and Boma Inn – a 5-star hotel owned by the Kenya Red Cross.

Hillside Estate

Located about 10-minute drive from Eldoret CBD along Kaptagat Road, just opposite Kenmosa Resort, Hillside is an estate that has attracted new money – individuals aged between 45-55 years.

The estate started cropping up about 5-10 years ago and it has quickly developed into the home for the affluent.

Hillside estate is not as big as Elgon View Estate, and walking through it you will sight newly build bungalows with some few sights of upcoming residential.

Eastern Avenue

This is arguably an estate that not so many ordinary people in Eldoret town know about.

Eastern Avenue is located just a stone through away from Eldoret CBD – opposite Central Primary school grounds and behind the Highlands Inn Hotel.

A majority of houses in this estate are covered by trees surrounding them and you might only have a sight of the gate and a tiny part of the house.

Annex – Opposite Nova International School

Annex estate located along Eldoret-Nakuru highway is generally home to the middle and upper-middle-class homeowners. However, there is an upcoming estate that has attracted the rich just opposite Nova International School.

Currently, a quarter plot in this estate goes for between Sh4.5 million to Sh8 million.
